2000

2000. I turn 54. Beth, Catherine and David move to Georgia in the spring. I move into the mobile home. I wanted to buy the little house in town that I was caretaking but could not sell the property out of town so I was forced to stay out there. I liked living in the country, but wasn't fond of living in a large mobile home by myself. But I continued on.

I think I did taxes in Denver this year. I stayed at Ryan's during tax season. Catherine and David came to visit me in the summer. We did our annual trip to Prospect Mountain cabins near Marble. I worked for Allen, making spirals. I think I was probably driving that grey van, though perhaps I still had my little dark blue corolla. Steven was my dear. I think maybe Sirkka, his friend from Finland, came to visit.

Was this was the year that I discovered that my thyroid was wacko? I was snowshoeing with Ryan near Mt Evans over the Christmas holidays and I could barely walk 500 feet without panting. Steven and I had come to visit you and Sarina in your triplex apartment in Lakewood.

Of course, January 1 was the day that the entire world was supposed to fall apart because the computers couldn't handle the year 2000. Steven had stocked up on all kinds of food, candles, water, medicines. I'm still using or throwing out stuff he bought then. He insisted that we be back safe and sound in Paonia on New Year's Eve.
